I Went To Aruba- The Before, The During, The After

The Before

One of my best friends (who also happened to be my college roommate) and I decided that we wanted to go away after graduation. After talking to our parents, we were able to make that happen (with her parents as chaperones)!

When it came to booking the trip (flights and hotel), it was fairly simple. The hard part was before going to the airport, an entire list of things had to be done. First and foremost was getting insurance to visit Aruba, in order to do so (and to travel in general) you had to submit a negative Covid-19 test. It seemed simple enough, but I felt like I was a chicken running around without its head!

The During

When I first arrived in Aruba it was safe to say I was beyond excited to lay out on the beach and relax after the stressful year. However, I did not keep in mind just how strong the sun is in Aruba! On the first day... I was completely burnt. Even after the first day when I staid in the shade and reapplied sunscreen every hour and a half, I was still burning! Aloe quickly became my best friend and the only solace to the pain and itchiness I was experiencing.

That, however, is my only complaint. The entire trip was everything I imagined it to be. Everyday I laid out on the beach sipping a cocktail, listening to music, reading a book, and taking in the overall atmosphere. The hotel was beautiful, the service amazing, and the food delicious. I would 100% recommend going to Aruba and staying at the Ritz, you won't regret it!

The After

Now, here I am, sitting on the plane on my way back home writing this, and a little sad about having to leave. I know when I return to home it will be time for me to get my head out of the clouds and back into the real world. I have to say though, I really missed traveling. Usually my family and I travel every summer together to some extravagant destination, but due to Covid, we haven't. With things starting to open up and the majority of people getting vaccinated, hopefully my family and I will be able to travel together soon!
