My Safe Space

What is a safe space? It's a place or environment where a person can feel confident and safe from harm. Your safe space can change and you are not limited to just one. In my old home, my safe space was my bedroom (specifically my bed). Whenever I was upset, anxious, or having a bad day, I would lock myself in my room and try to turn my mood/day around. Now in my new house, although I would say my safe space is still my bedroom, I would also say is my closet is 'safer' space.
Don't laugh, but there's something about being surrounded by all my clothes, shoes, and accessories make me feel at peace. When I am upset or anxious, I go into my closet. I run my hands across my bags, I smell my clothes, and I remind myself how lucky I am to be alive and to have the things I do. I calm myself down, and I leave the closet ready to conquer the world.
I love having this space and the ability to stomp in there, silently scream, and walk out like I was never mad/sad/anxious etc. It's a place for me to leave all my negative energy and try to turn it into something more positive. If you do not have a safe space, I recommend trying to identify one! If you already have one, what is it?
