Why Sometimes... I'm NOT The Biggest Fan Of Social Media

Social media can cause depression and anxiety, especially when you find yourself spending the majority of your time on social media. Sometimes, I find myself slipping into a weird funk, and I notice my screen time is up on my social media apps.. is there a correlation?

Unfortunately, there is cyberbullying. I can not explain the endless times I have witnessed cyberbullying on social media and had to step in. People feel more confident behind a phone/electronic device and never once stop to think of the repercussions of bullying: deep mental scars.

There are unrealistic expectations that eventually lead to negative body image. People are constantly comparing themselves to others on social media. There is also the 'beauty' of editing, so an image you see may or may not be real (or at least 50% is edited).

It is sometimes hard to tell the difference between real and fake, stories get repeated, changed, and even twisted.

I realize that there are some benefits to social media. It is a place where people can share their creative side, as well as a place for people to share their experiences, food, places, and other people. It is where we can all come together, and people can find their own community. It's just sometimes, I think we all need a break!
