12 Journaling Prompts

Updated: May 5, 2022

Journaling allows you to reflect on things, set goals, track moods and habits. It also gives you the opportunity to prioritize your problems, fears, and concerns.

For the longest time when I thought of journaling, my mind immediately went to having a diary, writing down your deepest darkest secrets, and never going to look back at it again.

Journaling however, is different. You are meant to look back on everything you have written, to see how you’ve grown, or areas you still need to work out. When I started journaling it was hard for me to be honest with myself and reflect on the things I have done in the past and things that I want to do in the future.

Below are some prompts that helped me start my journaling journey!

  1. List 3 things you love about yourself.

  2. What makes you feel confident?

  3. What does happiness mean to you?

  4. What do I need more of in my life?

  5. What would make me happy right now?

  6. What’s draining my energy? How can I reduce or cut it out?

  7. What does my ideal morning look like?

  8. What can I do to take better care of myself?

  9. What do I need to get off my chest today?

  10. 10 interesting facts about myself.

  11. 5 things to do less often.

  12. What makes you feel safe?
