How To Break The Habit Of: Stalking Your Ex On Social Media

Updated: Apr 19, 2023

In today's times we are blessed and cursed with the ability to keep track of everyone and anyone on social media. This unfortunately, includes your exes. It's not healthy, it doesn't help us move on, but it's easy to do- so why not, right?

You're ready to be over your ex, yet the first thing in the morning you find yourself reaching for your phone to see if he or she has posted anything new since the last time you checked. In the beginning, this behavior can be natural.

However, by allowing yourself to continue this bad habit, you don't allow yourself to prioritize your health. You'll be stuck living in the past and constantly reliving the rejection from someone you loved. You need to see this breakup as a gift, which means you have to stop stalking your ex on social media.

How To Stop Stalking your ex on social media:

  • Stop following your ex, that means blocking them. Do it.

  • Unfollow any mutual friends so you aren't tempted to check if they are hanging out without you.

  • Follow other social accounts that interest you and is a welcome distraction.

  • Lean on your support system.

  • Try and stay off your phone, instead find other activities that you enjoy that keep you away from your phone.

  • Remember, you don't need them.
