What NOT To Do When Feeling Anxious

Trying To Make The Anxiety Go Away

That simply won't work, so don't bother trying. Fear and anxiety are wired-in responses of your brain and body. Anxiety is a signal that you need to pay attention to something that your brain thinks is important for your survival. It may be a false alarm, but trying to shove that feeling away can only make it stronger.

Isolate Yourself

When you're feeling anxious you might have the strong urge to be alone, but this can cause more harm than good. With isolation you tend to hyper focus on how anxious you actually feel. Of course this doesn't mean attend a large party, but spend some time with close friends or family instead of curled in a ball under the covers in your bed.

Drink Coffee Or Energy Drink

Caffeine can trigger or exacerbate existing anxiety symptoms.

Make An Important Decision

When feeling anxious, you might make a rash decision and act out of stress, emotion, or desperation. Wait for your anxiety to pass before deciding anything major.

Demand Yourself To Snap Out Of It

Don't demand yourself to stay calm, if it were that easy you wouldn't be in this position to begin with.
