As the new year starts, I sit back and reflect on everything I experienced this past year. While doing so, I came to the conclusion that I have learned a lot about myself and how I would like to approach the world/life. Below are 21 things that I learned last year!
I learned to stand my ground on positions I believe in.
I learned how to forgive people for their wrongdoings.
I learned how to listen to my instincts.
I learned to stop making excuses and to own up to things.
I learned to love myself, and my body, despite my "flaws".
I learned to be honest and direct with people, there is no point in hiding things and lying.
I learned to listen to what other people have to say.
I learned to let go of anger in order to make sensible/wiser decisions.
I learned how to be open and accepting of change, as scary as it might be.
I learned to set boundaries, and that it's okay to set them.
I learned I do not always have to stay in. It's okay to be busy and go out with friends.
I learned that it's also okay to stay in and take time for yourself. There is no need to force yourself to go out if you don't want to.
I learned that I am not the most patient person and am working on it.
I learned that not all people in my life are meant to stay.
I learned that it's okay to not have life figured out.
I learned that not everything you have planned actually happens, and that's okay.
I learned that there is always something you can do. It's about more than just a mindset, as what you do matters.
I learned that even when I feel/think I am alone, I am not.
I learned that it is important to find what matters to you, and run with it.
I learned the importance of sleep, exercise, and eating.
I learned that learning never stops. Just because I am no longer in school doesn't mean I do not learn. In fact, I would argue I have learned more outside of school than in.
What have you learned during the past year? Are you able to take away anything significant and apply it to the upcoming year/future?
