My Favorite Holiday Commercials

Updated: Dec 14, 2020

This holiday season, I wanted to take the time to look back at some of my favorite holiday commercials, before any new ones came out. With that being said, here they are!

Campbell's Christmas commercial, released a year before I was born, is one of the earliest holiday commercials that I can remember. The commercial includes a snowman, entering his house from the cold. The snowman sits at a table, where a bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup is placed in front of him. Because of the steam from the soup, the snowman soon starts to melt away to reveal a little boy. The commercial ends with a man voice over stating, "nothing melts away the cold like a warm delicious Campbell soup".

Coca Cola's 2012 Christmas commercial, another one of my favorites, consists of polar bears hanging around together. One bear is tossed a Coca Cola beverage, and in its efforts to catch it, falls into other bears and slips all over the ice. Finally, the polar bear lands in a snow-pile, safely catching the drink. Letting out a sigh of relief, the bear stands up and happily drinks the Coca Cola drink.

Hershey's Holiday Bells commercial is famous, but the parody released in 2019 truly makes me laugh. The commercial starts with the classic Hershey Chocolate bell's ringing to the tune of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas". The song however, stops halfway through when one of the chocolates states that another bell is "off" and they have performing for 30 years, the chocolates should know better. The commercial brings comedic relief, something not many commercials have nowadays, which is a main reason as to why this commercial grabbed my attention.

Apple's Holiday commercial, released in 2019, is also one of my favorites mainly due to the fact that it pulls at my emotions. The commercial starts out with a family packing up their car to drive to the airport and go to their grandparents house. The two children, two girls, are fighting constantly, and only settle down when an Ipad is placed in their hands. The family finally arrives at the grandparents house, where it is shown it is only the grandfather, the family lost the grandmother some time ago. The girls take it upon themselves to take photos as well as find old ones that include their grandmother or memories of their grandmother, and put together a presentation for their grandfather. The presentation included old photos and videos of when the grandmother was still alive, a truly heartwarming gift. The commercial ends with the grandfather crying tears of joy, and the words "make someones holiday" come across the screen followed by the apple logo. I fully admit, this commercial makes me cry.
