My First Time Voting

Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of voting. It was probably due to the fact that people drilled into my head that as a female, it was my civic duty to vote.
It wasn't until I was older that I learned that at one point, women did not have the right to vote, and many were imprisoned or killed trying to change that. So I patiently waited for the day to come where I was old enough to vote.
When I turned 18, there were unfortunately no elections for me to put my vote in. So I waited some more, eager to do my part. Finally, the time arrived. Donald Trump v. Joe Biden. Now I won't say who I voted for, because quite frankly, I'm tired of all the political debates/discussions.
But I will say I voted, because it was high time my voice was heard. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic I was not able to vote in person. Instead I mailed in my ballot, something I was thrilled to do. After all, this was my fist time taking part in making history!
