My Top 5 Distractions and How I Deal with Them

Family

The one good thing about being sent home from college to wait out this global pandemic is the fact that I get to be with my family. With that being said, it was hard to juggle my family and my schoolwork.

They were a BIG distraction. So how did I deal with it? I hung my schedule up on my door, and when it was closed they knew they couldn't come in. That didn't block out their voices though, so most of the time I would have to put headphones on in order to completely tune them out.

Friends

Because everyone was stuck at home with no human interaction, my phone was constantly buzzing with people looking for some kind of entertainment. it was a BIG distraction when it came to me getting homework or work for my internship done. So what did I do? I put my phone on do not disturb, simple as that people!

Tik Tok

Even though I have my phone on do not disturb while I am working, I find myself taking a break every once in a while to scroll through Tik Tok. In order to limit myself and make sure I get my work done, I went to my screen time and gave myself a two hour limit a day on the social media platform.

My Bed

I honestly just try to not look at it... it's hard I wont lie. Making it helps though (because no one wants to mess up their bed after making it).

Summer Days

Whenever it is nice out, I have a hard time focusing. All I want to do is spend my time outside! But if I have work that I NEED to get done, and sitting outside while doing it just is not an option... I sadly close my blinds and lock myself in my room. I know, it sounds depressing, but it's effective. It makes me want to get my work done so I can enjoy the sunshine!
