Last year, although I did “celebrate” my 21st birthday, it wasn’t the classic one I hoped it would be (bar hopping and drinking the whole night) due to the fact that places were still partially closed because of Covid. As a result, I was determined to go out and celebrate my birthday this year.
One of my cousins close friends who know all the fun places to go and used to be an event planner, offered to help me find a place to celebrate. After explaining to her what I wanted for my celebration, she sent me a list of places that she believed fit my wants. Out of 5-7 that she sent me, I was able to find one that I thought would be fun, and I made a reservation.
I decided that since my birthday fell on a Wednesday this year, I would celebrate the weekend before with my friends and celebrate my actual birthday with my family.
That same friend also offered to host the pregame at her apartment rooftop. The rooftop was spacious and had a beautiful view of the city. It was there I met with all my friends and we hung out, drank, and took some pictures.
After the pregame we made out way to the place I made reservations, The Madd Hatter in Hoboken. It was a pretty big sports bar that had great service and a DJ. My only complaint was that it was pretty expensive for a bar, for example, you had to pay a large amount just to reserve a table.
Overall, I had a great time. I laughed and danced with my friends and finally got to go out and legally celebrate my birthday the way I wanted to.
On the day of my actual birthday, I spent the first half of it with one of my best friends. We dressed super casually, went bowling, and had lunch. It was fun, relaxing, and a nice way to spend the day.
Afterwards, I went to dinner with my family at a restaurant nearby. Overall it was a great 22nd birthday, and I couldn’t have been more thankful to all my friends and family who were there to celebrate the day with me!
