What It's Like Working From Home

If you saw my previous post, then you know I recently got a job! The position has me working fully remote which I love and hate. I have to admit, it's really nice being able to roll out of bed and walk two feet to my desk where I work, but it's also kinda sad. It's sad and hard because a part of me would really love to experience regular office life with a full team of people.

When I started working from home, there were two things that were extremely important to me. First and foremost I knew I had to give myself a cut off time. Working at home does not mean I bring work home. For example, my work messages get silenced at 7:30 (although I am not obligated to respond past 5:30).

Second, it was really important for me to create a work schedule, and then an after work schedule. The after work schedule consists of activities that are completely separate from the things I do at work. These include coloring, working on my blog working on my puzzles, and hanging out with my friends.

Once I started working, there were several things that I realized. First I found it hard sitting at my desk knowing that my bed was behind me. I found myself staring at my bed multiple times throughout the day thinking of house good it would feel to just get in, watch TV, and do nothing! With that being said, it was very easy to get distracted working from home. Between my dog, dad, and grandma who are home all day everyday, it's very easy for me to get distracted!

Don't get me wrong though, I do enjoy working from home. It allows me to be in a place I am 100% comfortable in, and also lets me wear comfy clothes! Of course it is going to take some time for me and the people around me to adjust to me working from home, it isn't something that will happen overnight! However, I do look forward to the day where my team and I can work in the office!
