Email is a common form of communicating that is used for personal and professional purposes. Email marketing can affect consumer behavior, convincing consumers to visit websites for more information or to make a purchase.

Email marketing is cheap and usually costs less than one cent per email sent to consumers. In comparison, the rate of return a business sees from email marketing is high. About 97% of businesses are using email marketing to convert recipients into buyers.

Unfortunately, there is some negative behavior in consumers that email marketing can bring out. For some companies that send unsolicited emails or too many emails, consumers will hit the spam button. This means they don’t want to hear from the business even if they have previously done so.

Email marketing though makes it easy to track consumer’s behavior by looking at patterns that emerge when the emails are sent. Consumer behavior can also be tracked with click thru rates or how many consumers visited the company website or social media page by clicking on the link in the email.

Overall, email marketing, when done correctly, if an extremely powerful tool that should be utilized by companies.
