The State Marshal: Analysis and Recommendations

In a previous PR course I took, I was assigned a client to offer my services to. The client? State Marshal Brian Mezick.

In order to create a proposal for him, I had to understand what a state marshal was. The state marshal is a public figure with the status of a peace officer who makes service of process in his state, civil, judicial, administrative proceedings, and to carry out legal executions.

His specialty, however, is helping people with civil cases such as divorces and evictions. The potential clients fit into Mezick's niche market because they are in the age when most divorces happen (40-65).

Upon analyzing the state marshal's website, it seemed bland and outdated with no real interactive features. It merely had two pages with a paragraph description of the industry and about Mezick himself. There were no pictures, icons, logos, etc. that would help better his image or draw people in.

Although Mezick does have his own personal website and Linkedln, when it comes to mainstream social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, there are no profiles.

The state marshal can potentially benefit from adding pictures of him working hands on in the field with his clients, so that potential clients can see him interacting with others who require his service. Giving consumers an inside look of how the work is executed will create a connection with the brand or person.

When it came to creating a mission statement for the State Marshal, the inspiration came from the definition of what a state marshal is, as well as who Mezick's clients are- people in his community; people he is willing to go above and beyond for. With this in mind, the mission statement created is as follows:

"To go above and beyond, for my clients, and the law".
